Higher availability and modularity with the three-phase UPS
When we talk about UPS systems , we are talking about uninterruptible power supply. In the event of power outages, over- or In the event of undervoltage in the power grid or short circuits, UPS systems are used to secure the power supply of critical electrical loads. With innovative UPS technologies such as static UPS systems, the power grid is optimally supplied with voltage. Static UPS systems have a battery system and are operated either online (also called VFI, Voltage and Frequency Independent), LineInteractive (also called VI, Voltage Independent) and offline (also called VFD, Voltage and Frequency Dependent).
An offline UPS system switches to the battery in the event of a power failure. A line-interactive UPS system compensates for slight voltage fluctuations and ensures a seamless changeover to the battery in the event of a failure. The online UPS system (double converter) provides continuous power supply from the battery, regardless of the power quality.
Eaton’s new 93PM Gen2 60kVA-360kVA three-phase UPS impresses with its scalable design and offers even higher availability than its predecessor, the first generation of the Eaton 93PM, thanks to its hot-swap functionality. The new UPS system is also based on a modular upgrade system. Due to its high efficiency, the UPS also produces less IT heat and causes lower cooling costs, which in turn has a positive effect on the climate.
Modularity and resiliency
The modularity makes it possible to buy as many kVA as necessary. In this way, the data center grows step by step with the company. The necessary modules can be added at any time and easily without having to shut down the system. “A server room infrastructure that requires electricity around the clock cannot function without the use of UPS systems,” explains Peter Reisinger, project manager at EPS. “The 93PM Gen2 60kVA-360kVA UPS builds on the modular and scalable system of the previous model and offers even more UPS capacity.” EPS is based on the current standards in the data center and electrical engineering sector. Individual optimization of performance also contributes to reliability in the data center. The EPS technical team takes over Maintenance and service.
Remote UPS Monitoring with Network Card Software
The 93PM G2 UPS system has a remote monitoring service thanks to the IPM (Intelligent Power Manager) software and the UPS network card. Both systems control all network-based power infrastructure devices. This allows devices to be properly shut down or shut down in an emergency, for example. Turn off unnecessary devices. This saves power and costs and promotes business continuity, better protection, and network connectivity.
What factors determine the selection of a UPS system?
- Power: The required power in VA (volt amperes) or watts
- Autonomy time: How long the UPS system can supply power to the connected devices
- Topology: The type of UPS system (offline, line-interactive, online) depending on the requirements
A special feature of the 93PM Gen2 UPS system is, among other things, the feature of the Energy Aware Solution. Excess energy is stored – both for the backup function, so that enough energy is available at all times, and as an additional energy source. This means that excess energy can be fed back to the grid, thus reducing the energy consumption of the data center. If there is an increased demand for energy, the energy can be retrieved from the grid.
Sustainable power supply
"The 93PM G2 UPS system offers a very high level of energy efficiency. The UPS helps to reduce electricity costs. Thanks to the hot-swap modules, operation is maintained even during the installation or maintenance of the UPS systems."
