Early fire detection for server room and IT

A smoke aspiration system RAS or early fire detection is a special fire detector that warns of a fire that occurs in a data center, server room or IT infrastructure before it has even occurred. The VESDA™ by Xtralis™ series are early warning systems with smoke aspiration technology that enormously increase safety and thus availability in server rooms. This means that people, assets and IT infrastructures are optimally protected from the risk of fire. Additional features are available with improved smoke repellency and additional options from the VESDA product range.

RAS smoke aspiration technology

The VESDA VLF smoke detector detects the fire before it can even start. The fire detector detects very early smoke formation in operationally critical areas of less than 250m² in size. The detector works by constantly sucking in air samples through extraction openings in a pipe network. The air is filtered and then fed into a measuring chamber, where even the smallest amounts of smoke can be detected with the help of light scattering technology. The information about the status of the smoke detector is then transmitted via the detector displays and via relays or optionally interface cards.

Ultrasonic Air Flow Sensing for Fire Detection

The ultrasonic air flow sensor used in the VLF provides an up-to-date measurement of the flow rate of the air intake pipe. The system is insensitive to changes in air temperature and air pressure and remains unaffected by contaminants. The VLF 250 is the first air sample smoke detector to use an ultrasonic flow method, making it unique.
