The UPS External Bypass Switch is located on a mounting plate and is installed in a separate wall cabinet. The EBS from EPS is completely wired and mounted on terminal blocks. The UPS bypass communication interface is attached and also hardwired so that there can be no interruption. The UPS bypass communication interface ensures flawless synchronization between the UPS system and the EBS UPS bypass switch. Communication takes place via a data cable, such as a CAT5, Cat6, Cat7 or Cat8 data cable.
What is an EBS External Bypass Switch?
The EBS UPS Bypass Switch is an external mechanical layman-operated bypass switch that allows the UPS system to be physically removed from the system during operation. A selector switch can be used to switch between UPS power and normal mains power, which means that the consumers are still supplied and the UPS system can be easily removed. This means that UPS systems can be replaced during operation (no server shutdown is necessary) or UPS systems can be set up at other locations. Especially in the case of power extensions (n1 systems), a reliable test can be carried out in this way without endangering the consumers (e.g. data centers, IT rooms, server rooms). “Parallel” and/or “redundant” UPS systems can be easily and safely integrated into the UPS network.
As a specialist for IT infrastructure, we recommend the optimal integration of the EBS UPS bypass switch in a UPS NST-PDM (UPS Normal Power Distributor). This is not only space-saving, but also constantly modularly expandable with appropriate planning. We at EPS take care of the UPS system as well as the UPS bypass switch. Everything from a single source.
Advantages of a UPS bypass circuit
- UPS bypass circuit with UPS communication interface
- Uninterruptible switching of the load from UPS power to mains power and vice versa
- Safe maintenance: EBS physically takes the UPS system off the grid
- External bypass switch enables maintenance and replacement of the UPS system during ongoing service operation
- Bypass line, consumer and UPS are connected to terminal blocks in the housing
