Emergency power switch without synchronization
The ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) distributor must be dimensioned in such a way that the new emergency power generator can be integrated into the new power concept. On the generator side, it must be possible to carry out a load test before the ATS without interrupting the system. A corresponding control system with two key switches and an outlet in the distributor must be provided. A mobile load bank must be able to be connected to the unit at any time. The switch between mains and generator operation is to be made via a definite 0 position. The surge arrester concept must be taken into account and these must also be factored into the power distributors.
The following power and communication cables must be protected with surge arresters for internal lightning protection when entering the building in a separate distributor:
- Power supply cable for the genset
- Preheating control
- Control of battery charging
- Service socket
- Start command
- Control cables
- Data line and outlet for the load bank
This means that dangerous sparks must be prevented within the structural system after a lightning strike or overvoltage.
