Eaton’s Intelligent Power Software for UPS systems and UPS systems integrates seamlessly with your power hardware to ensure business continuity. Eaton UPS software manages the entire power infrastructure—connected to the network—triggers VM migration schedules, and shuts down non-essential devices so you’re always up and running during power events. Seamless integration with leading virtualization environments enables simplified management from a central location.
Intelligent Power UPS software consists of 3 components:
- UPS Companion: enables safe system shutdown for various users (SOHO, small businesses, and individuals) who want to optimize the protection capabilities of their Eaton UPS
- Intelligent Power Protector (IPP): helps you prevent data loss by properly shutting down computers and servers from an Eaton UPS during an extended power outage. Can be managed, configured and updated remotely using Eaton Intelligent Power Manager
- Intelligent Power Manager (IPM): monitor and manage multiple UPS and ePDU devices on your network from a single interface – each device with a web browser or VM Manager software dashboard.
Features of Eaton’s IPM UPS Software
- Instantly access important information, such as: UPS battery health, battery charge, and battery life
- During a power event, remotely and properly shut down servers and select Storage Devices
- Prioritize and discard non-critical loads to extend runtime during a prolonged power outage
- Integration with platforms such as vCenter and XenCenter™ helps data center managers reduce infrastructure and operational costs and increase uptime, productivity, and responsiveness
- View key power information about devices, including UPS systems, ePDUs, and environmental sensors, in the vCenter or XenCenter dashboard.
- Trigger vMotion, XenMotion™, and other migration applications to transparently move VMs to an available server on the network.
Manage Edition and Optimized Edition of UPS Software
The Intelligent Power software is available in two versions – the Manage Edition and the Optimized Edition. In the first version, Eaton ePDUs can also be monitored and displayed. It is a free download for up to 10 devices. For larger operations, paid scales are possible. The Optimized Edition differs in the following:
- Advanced event actions on custom events
- Selecting VMware vApps for Shutdown in Load Shutdown Policies
- 100% secure shutdown and recovery of VMs and host servers in high-availability environments
- Monitor and analyze energy information directly from VMware uRealize
- Managing Virtualized Environments
- In the event of a power failure, applications can be transferred from one server to another
- Monitoring Third-Party UPSs
