EPS implements turnkey mini data center for mechanical engineering companies
Maria Anzbach / Gasen – The mechanical engineering company Willingshofer is located in the middle of the idyllic Almenland in eastern Styria. The family business with 120 employees is run by three siblings in the fourth generation. The former locksmith’s shop has developed into an internationally successful company with a focus on tailor-made machines, systems and devices with complete control.
Fireproof high-security rack as a compact IT safe
Michael Rauter, IT Manager at Willingshofer GmbH, recognized the urgency of a modern and at the same time energy-efficient alternative to the existing server room and came across the server room professional EPS Electric Power Systems GmbH in the course of his research. Among other things, EPS offers small, compact server room solutions, so-called IT safes, which provide physical protection for all important IT components.
“A space-saving, holistic and low-noise IT solution such as the IT-Safe meets our expectations and the security needs of our customers and business partners,” explains Michael Rauter in an interview with Michael Kainrath, sales representative at EPS. “Structurally more complex solutions such as an IT server room container or a complete data center were out of the question for us due to lack of space. The old server room was dismantled and the new finished rack solution was installed.”
IT safe with the highest level of security
Michael Kainrath emphasizes the redundancy and compactness of the IT safe. This is a high-security rack with 47 rack units and a secure power supply system including modular and scalable UPS systems, cooling, cabling and IT monitoring system. Between the IT infrastructure and the technical room in the rack there is a fireproof fire protection wall. Thanks to this highly available and modern server room solution , customer data is securely stored at Willingshofer GmbH.
Especially in the Styrian region, which is often affected by floods and power outages, a full-fledged data center is an important security precaution for the Willingshofer company. Dipl.-Ing. Mathias Willingshofer underlines the need for a high-availability IT infrastructure: “Water, fire and vandalism – these are real threats to our operations.
