Zwettl/Maria Anzbach – In the course of the modernization of the uninterruptible power supply systems (UPS), the family-owned company KASTNER commissioned the data center and power supply specialist EPS Electric Power Systems GmbH. High-availability rental UPS systems and UPS accessories were planned and installed for all locations throughout Austria. In doing so, the multi-specialist wholesaler is sending a strong signal in the direction of prevention in the event of a power failure.
Rental UPS systems with full service
The KASTNER Group, headquartered in Zwettl, is considered a pioneer in innovation and sustainability. In its search for a reliable power supply solution, the food wholesaler therefore also opted for the complete solution provider EPS, which has a branch in Groß Gerungs. Increasing data volumes and higher power loads were the motivations for managing partner KR Christof Kastner to completely modernize all server rooms, right down to the cash points. The decision was made in favor of high-availability rental UPS systems with different performance levels and service packages. “EPS convinced us with its enormously high level of expertise. The rental UPS systems also offer us even greater flexibility,” emphasizes Wolfgang Huber, authorized signatory at KASTNER.
UPS Accessories Increase Reliability
An important part of EPS’s power package are additional UPS components that provide even higher availability and reliability. These include automatic transfer switches (ATS), external bypass switches (EBS) and switchable IP power strips. They complement the UPS solution and also enable maintenance during operation, without power interruptions.
Preventive measures in the event of a “blackout”
With EPS UPS systems, KASTNER also wants to counteract the possible scenario of a “blackout”. “For us, a long-term and uninterruptible power supply solution is essential for survival. Fresh products arrive every day and have to leave our warehouse on the same day in the highest quality. We therefore cannot risk power and grid failures,” adds Michael Gesselbauer, the responsible project manager at KASTNER. UPS service employee at EPS, Ing. Christian Schnabl, concludes by emphasizing the relevance of a reliable power supply: “We recommend that companies now deal with the preventive measures in the event of a long-term power outage. Smaller UPS systems or, in the best case, an emergency power generator for alternative power generation are already suitable for this purpose. In any case, it has to run flawlessly in an emergency.”
