In the Lower Austrian Waldviertel, in the district of Zwettl, is the Groß Gerungs Cardiovascular Centre (HKZ), with 230 employees. The centre specialises in prevention and rehabilitation after cardiovascular diseases and was opened in 1983. Currently, approx. 3,500 patients treated per year.
EPS erects new emergency power generator for Groß Gerungs Cardiovascular Centre
In order to adapt the existing power supply system to the modern requirements of technology, HKZ Managing Director Fritz Weber and Anton Einfalt, Building Services Manager, decided on a new diesel emergency power generator. The upgrade arose from the need to equip the extensions with a secure power supply system as well. “This means that electricity will be secured in the future even in the event of longer outages,” emphasizes Anton Einfalt. However, the challenging project of integrating the new power system into the premises of an existing building required a great deal of expertise. The decision was made in favor of the total solution provider EPS Electric Power Systems. “We were already familiar with EPS from Groß Gerungs as a local and competent provider of emergency power systems,” recalls Anton Einfalt.
500kVA Diesel Emergency Power Generator as Power Source
Finally, a diesel emergency power generator with 500kVA or 500kVA was dimensioned and built. 400kW of power. The plant was built in its own aggregate room. It is used to secure the electrical supply in the event of a disruption of the public supply network. This means that the centre is technically well equipped in the event of prolonged power outages. The overall emergency power solution is rounded off by regular, professional maintenance by EPS’s own service team.
“At EPS, we attach great importance to regionality and are pleased to have gained a valuable customer in the Waldviertel region in the form of the Groß Gerungs Cardiovascular Centre. With the commissioning of the emergency power generator, an important contribution has been made to maintaining safety at the center,” says Jürgen Grubmüller, Technical Manager at EPS.
Finally, Fritz Weber emphasizes the good cooperation with EPS: “The safety and well-being of our patients are very important to us. The new unit complies with the modern safety parameters of the technology. Due to EPS’s location in the region, the technical follow-up of the plant is quick and uncomplicated. I would like to thank EPS for the commitment, experience and competence of the entire team.”
