Maria Anzbach/ Leoben – For over 100 years, the Austrian construction company ÖSTU-STETTIN, a subsidiary of the HABAU Group, has been active in the field of mining, tunnelling, civil engineering and industrial construction. True to the motto “We build everything”, the company stands for crisis-proof and promising projects, including bridges and modern building architecture, and currently employs approx. 500 employees.
State-of-the-art in-house data center for Austrian construction company
The high demands on quality and availability have recently also had a strong impact on the IT infrastructure,” explains Michael Reiner, Head of IT at ÖSTU-STETTIN. Since the headquarters in Leoben also manages the data center in Hungary and Vienna, he decided in consultation with facility manager Michael Raith and the management of ÖSTU-STETTIN to completely rebuild the server room. As the company has also grown in terms of personnel over the past 12 years, an investment in secure and sustainable IT infrastructure has become essential.
New data center with separate technical area
In the planning phase, a wide variety of locations and risks were defined and evaluated by the data center total solution specialist EPS Electric Power Systems GmbH. An outdoor data center container and an in-house server room solution were juxtaposed. The management of ÖSTU-STETTIN finally decided on the server room in-house solution with independent protection zones and fire compartments. The room was equipped with Regulated Cooling Solution (RCS) server cabinets, redundant air conditioning system, a fire prevention system and structured data cabling. The oxygen reduction system and a 2-lane, modular UPS power supply system with switchgear were installed in the separate technical room.
For future performance increases, the infrastructure was designed to be scalable and all technical components were planned and built on a modular basis. “We were looking for a reliable business partner who would plan, build and sustainably service the server room,” says Michael Raith, who was convinced of the idea of the overall solution from the very beginning. “With EPS, we have found this partner,” Raith continues.
EPS as an experienced partner for data center planning, construction and service
“In the end, we were convinced by the technical competence that EPS brought to the table as an experienced full-service provider of total power supply solutions,” says Michael Reiner. Peter Reisinger, Sales Manager at EPS, who was able to contribute his many years of experience to the planning and design of the solution, thanked ÖSTU-STETTIN for the always cooperative cooperation and the trust placed in him.
