Full-fledged server room in a mobile high-cube container for SONNENTOR in Sprögnitz
After 30 years of growth, SONNENTOR’s IT department also had to follow suit and guarantee the highest IT availability and security. SONNENTOR opted for a 20f data center container, which was planned, installed and commissioned by EPS Electric Power Systems.
Energy-efficient and modular data center solution
The Waldviertel-based company SONNENTOR has made a name for itself far beyond Austria’s borders with its biologically sustainable products. After 30 years of steady growth, the IT department at the Sprögnitz site also had to follow suit and guarantee IT availability and the highest security standards. Thomas Koppensteiner, IT Manager at SONNENTOR, opted for a modern and energy-efficient server room solution in the data center container. The full-service provider was EPS Electric Power Systems GmbH.
Due to the limited footprint at the company headquarters, a data center container was purchased, which was individually installed and erected according to the latest IT infrastructure. The SONNENTOR team was keen to meet the highest safety standards and to place the container flexibly on the site. “For us, the server room container simply had to be practical and protect the hardware in it well. The EPS server cabinets offer us a lot of space to work and the UPS system protects us from a power failure,” says Gregor Floh, Deputy Head of IT at SONNENTOR.
Flexible container solution for the data center
Within a week, the entire container solution was installed and put into operation by the EPS team. Peter Reisinger, Sales Manager at EPS, is also very satisfied with the project and once again emphasizes the flexibility of this special solution: “A container grows with the company because it is modular and easy to expand. It is 100% physically and fire protection separated from the company building. This increases availability. The customer ultimately decides whether he prefers a rental or purchase option.”
Thomas Koppensteiner is proud of the SONNENTOR server room and adds: “We had great respect for this project at the beginning. Fortunately, with EPS as a partner, everything went smoothly and uncomplicated. I am happy about this great cooperation and our own server room.”
