Direct-to-chip cooling – for server rooms and data centers
Why does direct-to-chip cooling need its own leak detection?
In direct-to-chip cooling, cold liquid circulates directly through pipes and cold plates that are directly in contact with CPUs, GPUs and memory modules. The heat migrates from the chips via the cold plates into the liquid and is then dissipated elsewhere. The process is suitable for high-density racks with powerful processors – but brings the coolant closer to the most sensitive hardware in the room than classic cooling water pipes. A leak at this point has a correspondingly faster effect.
What does the FG-DLC coolant sensor do in concrete terms?
The sensor covers three levels:
- Server Level: Monitoring directly on the critical components.
- Rack Level: Detection inside and above the rack.
- Localization: pinpoint location of the leak site instead of a pure yes/no message.
The sensor is connected to an alarm control panel (FG-NET or FG-SYS), which evaluates and forwards the message – for example to the building management system or directly to the responsible team.
How does the system fit into your server room?
We plan the sensor technology as part of the overall concept – tailored to the rack structure, existing cooling circuits and your reporting channels. This reduces the number of false alarms and ensures that the right place is informed in the event of an emergency.
