EPS Data Center-Raiffeisenlandesbank-Carinthia

High-end data center of Raiffeisen Landesbank Kärnten

Klagenfurt am Wörthersee/Maria Anzbach. The Raiffeisen data centre, the largest IT service provider in Carinthia, stands for first-class and sustainable solutions in the areas of IT operations, IT consulting as well as client and server management and network services. EPS Electric Power Systems was commissioned as a full-service provider to design and install a new data center safety power supply at two different locations.

Modernization of the IT infrastructure Complete solution for the Raiffeisen data center

Since its foundation in 1976, the Raiffeisen Computer Centre has been responsible for the comprehensive service and support of the Raiffeisen Landesbank Kärnten and the Carinthian Raiffeisen banks. At the same time, innovative and forward-looking IT solutions are also offered outside the banking sector, and here companies and institutions appreciate not only reliability, but above all the highest IT availability. Due to the increasing volume of data and the increasing number of customers, the capacity in the Raiffeisen data center had to be expanded. At the same time, the IT system landscape was modernized and expanded.
“Our IT services all have one goal: security and IT availability at the highest level and with the quality standards of a bank. Our systems must be reliably protected against interruptions and unauthorized access at all times. With our competent IT solutions, our customers can concentrate on their core business,” explains Roland Hulko, responsible for data center operations at Raiffeisen Landesbank Kärnten.

"With this modular power supply solution, we have increased availability and created a sustainable capacity expansion for technology and IT infrastructure. The customers of the Raiffeisen data center will thus continue to be offered a high level of service."

Availability and capacity expansion in the Raiffeisen data center

EPS created a powerful and scalable infrastructure that enables the highest level of security and availability. After determining requirements and preliminary planning, detailed planning for the modernization followed, while at the same time increasing the availability of the Raiffeisen data center at both locations. In detail, the power supply and its power distribution system were reinstalled. An energy management system has been set up to permanently monitor the power quality and improve energy efficiency. Modular UPS systems with up to 600kVA power were used for uninterruptible power supply. An A/B multi-path system is used to supply the connected consumers. The EBS (External Bypass Switch) ensures uninterrupted external UPS bypass. The stationary UPS battery systems were housed in external battery containers in the outdoor area. This reduces the risk of a fire or explosion in the building.

Emergency generator with synchronization control

An additional primary supply, “emergency power system”, is a diesel emergency generator with 650kVA power and external fuel supply. The unit was equipped with a synchronization control system. This allows a permanent grid-parallel load test operation to be carried out without mobile load banks. “With this modular power supply solution, we have increased availability and created a sustainable capacity expansion for technology and IT infrastructure. The customers of the Raiffeisen data center will thus continue to be offered a high level of service,” says Peter Reisinger, Sales Manager at EPS. Roland Hulko adds: “EPS provided us with professional support from planning and implementation to the transfer to ongoing operation. We were able to achieve our set goals very satisfactorily and particularly appreciated the cooperative partnership with the experts from EPS.”

Investment in the digital future: HABAU relies on data centre from EPS Electric Power Systems

The HABAU GROUP has invested in the modernization of its IT infrastructure – with a high-availability data center, planned and implemented by EPS Electric Power Systems. The owner-managed family business with around 6,500 employees has been operating internationally for more than a century and is now one of the leading players in the Austrian construction industry. Whether it’s building construction, civil engineering, tunnel construction or pipeline construction, the HABAU GROUP is broadly positioned – and therefore also needs an IT infrastructure that can keep pace with this complexity.
