On-premise server room container solution implemented
Maria Anzbach/Vienna – The IT infrastructure at PKE was already redundantly managed with EPS before the start of the project and the UPS systems (uninterruptible power supply) have so far been able to bridge short power outages. However, with only one energy supplier and one refrigeration system, PKE was not yet optimally equipped for risk-free 24/7 operation in the area of power supply and air conditioning technology.
Flexible energy infrastructure solution in containers
External data centers and other PKE locations were considered as possible solutions. “Since our main building has very good preventive fire protection due to the company’s activities, we decided against a geographical relocation of the second server room,” says Manfred Jiras, IT Manager at PKE. “The container solution from EPS is almost ideal for operating a server room externally.” Only a few months passed from the first contact to the delivery and installation of the Data Center Container (DC CONT). Soon after, the server room container including relocation work was fully operational.
Continuous system availability for PKE
One challenge for the IT department at PKE was the planning of the new network structure and the smooth, almost uninterrupted relocation work. The property management organized the digging work for the power and data lines as well as the work for the foundations and lightning protection, the connection to fire and access systems and the expansion of video surveillance on the site.
Secure IT infrastructure for all PKE branches
The biggest advantage of PKE is the high availability of the technical data center infrastructure, which includes a redundantly secured power supply for the IT infrastructure. The IT infrastructure is available to all PKE branches worldwide with a stable internet connection, regardless of the power supply and air conditioning of the main building. “Handshake quality and trust in a business partner are very important to me. EPS combines both: reliability and trustworthiness,” emphasizes Manfred Jiras. Peter Reisinger, Sales Manager at EPS, concludes: “The cooperation with PKE has always been uncomplicated and on an equal footing. I am very pleased to have realized this data center container project together with PKE.”
