State-of-the-art data center for toolmaker weba in the Czech Republic

Modern server room complete solution

For more than 25 years, weba Werkzeugbau Betriebs GmbH has been a pioneer in the hot forming of tools for the automotive industry. In addition to the headquarters in Austria, crash-relevant structural parts are also manufactured with weba tools at the site in Olomouc, Czech Republic. In the course of a structural expansion at the Czech Republic, the IT and the server room at the time also had to be modernized and expanded. Weba’s IT manager, Jörg Mitterhuber, already had precise ideas at the time: “It had to be a data center with a clean and redundant overall solution that was state-of-the-art. It was also important that we can meet the growth forecasts for the next few years in the data center.” The company EPS Electric Power Systems GmbH was commissioned with the planning and installation of the new data center. “At EPS, we particularly appreciated the honest and open communication and the enormously high level of data center know-how. EPS’s previous experience and technical knowledge were ultimately decisive for the cooperation.”

To the data center in just a few weeks

In a few weeks, the existing server room was modernized and expanded. Equipped with the latest technology, UPS systems, server racks, a power sub-distribution, a generator and a gas extinguishing system, among other things, promise the highest level of safety and availability. EPS project employee Michael Kainrath is proud: “Despite the language barrier and the legal regulations, which differ significantly from Austrian laws, we were able to meet all the requirements on time and successfully complete the project.” Jörg Mitterhuber agrees and praises the solution-oriented way of thinking and working of the data center specialist: “If it was said that a component would be on the construction site in two days, then it was so. I could always rely on EPS. Even when things got tight, everyone pitched in and we were able to find a quick solution. The flexibility of EPS was enormously high throughout the project. That simply wouldn’t work with a large company.”

Blind panel system of server racks

The IT manager would also like to highlight the blind panel system of the server racks, the so-called Tool-Less System. “This simple click system saves me a lot of working time in the server room. In contrast to conventional systems, I don’t have to screw anything together and am finished quickly. EPS recommended this system to me and I’m really glad I chose it.”
